Installation Instructions:
- Clean the door edge surfaces both inside and out. If The EDGE isn't sticking it is because there is some type of contaminant on the paint.
- Do not apply over pin stripping, this will leave a small gap where dirt & moisture can get under The EDGE.
- Stay 1/8" away from abrupt body lines and the top and bottom of the door.
- Do not stretch The EDGE into an inside curve or concave bodyline.
Tips!!
Edge Finanacial Services
- Being careful not to touch the adhesive, peel the release paper about an inch and position the end where you want the door edge to start, having half the width of The EDGE on the paint and half overhanging the door edge. (Figure 1)
- Continue peeling back the release paper and applying The EDGE along the door edge as long as the edge is fairly straight.
- If the door has an outside curve, peel back the release paper so you have just enough of The EDGE exposed to make it around the corner. By gently stretching The EDGE , it will make a "clam shell" around the outside curve leaving no material buckled on the backside. After the outside curve, return to the "half on half off" process. (Figure 3)
- When you get to where you want the door edge guard to end, cut The EDGE off at a right angle (figure 3) or for best results cut a rounded edge. (Figure 4) (Corners of acute angles can get caught and peeled up by wash mitts.)
- Gradually work the overhanging half around the door edge being careful not to trap any air bubbles (figure 5). Firmly run your fingers along the entire length of the door edge making certain the edges are well secured.
